    Genarlow Wilson

I didn't know about this case until the recent news that he was released from prison and his ruling was overturned as cruel and unusual punishment.  Hey, I may just be living under a rock!  I think it's sad that this kid was in jail for 4 years out of his life.  You know what, wasn't this on Oprah?  I missed that show.  Regardless, I'm glad he's out and I hope that there's justice like he sues or something.  I am clear he was punished for engaging in activity with someone of a different race.  Just MHO...Anyway, there's an article at http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1677087,00.html?imw=Y.  *Shake head*

I've been following story for a couple of years.  I'm not sure if Oprah covered it, but it has received a ton of media exposure.  While they always kept the identity of the girl unknown beccause of her age..I find it a bit curious that it's only recently that they revealed her race.  I think there was a similar story a couple of years ago on Oprah..bu that one was a boy and girl that were boyfriend and girlfriend.  The boy was a black student, adopted by a white family.  His girlfriend was white.  I think he was 18 and she was 16 or 17.  When her parents found out they were a couple..they had him arrested for statutory rape.  I am also very glad that Genarlow is has been released.  I admire him and his mother for standing their ground.  It's great to see him able to pick his little sister up (something he fought for).
