I am deeply saddened by the recent news of the death of Kanye West's mom, Dr. Donda West. At first, I didn't know why this death of the mother of someone I don't even know affected me, then as the shock wore off, I could articulate my sadness. Here was this intelligent, successful woman in her own right who raised a succesful, intelligent son in his own right. Dr. Donda West was phenomenal. She was beautiful. She was too young. Here are clips of her interviewing about her book "Raising Kanye" and her relationship, in general, with her son:

Kanye's close relationship to his mother
I am so saddened that the cause of her death may have been cosmetic surgery copmlications. For all intents and purposes, she looked pretty good to me and I am upset and railing at the world that would have a woman of her age place herself in the jeopardy of unneccesary surgery. Damn this false standard of beauty that calls for women to chop up their bodies exacting the price of our souls and our lives.
I am upset that she is gone. She was a wonderful bright light who created IMHO a well-adjusted, brilliant child. She reminds me of my mom and so many others who instill their children all the best they have to give.
My condolences to Kanye who is so shockingly deprived of his beloved mother. I cannot begin to imagine, if this disturbs me, a stranger, so deeply, how devastated Kanye must feel at this tragic, sudden loss. I send you waves of love and appreciation for you and family and pray that this will make you stronger and you will continue to honor your mother through your success and a lifetime of graciousness.
