I love the way J. California Cooper writes. I especially love her short stories. She writes is a true storyteller.
I also love Pearl Cleage's work. She really makes you feel as if you know the characters in her books. As a bonus a few of the main characters continue throughout her later work, so you sorta get to follow along as the characters continue their lives from book to book.
